President’s Report:
- The Russian Performances are coming up! Not this weekend, but the following weekend (Oct 17-19) the Russians will be up and running!
- The Humpbacked Horse (featuring Scott himself, as well as some other of our talented Players & Dancers!) will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm at Theatre IV
- Uncle’s Dream will be performed at UR on Saturday and CREW IS STILL NEEDED! (Sound Op & run crew) NO previous experience is needed, and it’s only ONE DAY! You need to be there from 1:30pm-the end of strike! On that day you will have dress rehearsal, a performance, and then strike. Glenn, the lovely stage manager, will bake you cookies! Dancers get lab hours! Contact scott.masarky if you’re interested!
- ALSO tickets are FREE for UR students to BOTH of these performances, so if you have already paid for tickets, tell Scott and he can get you a refund!
- Walter’s London Trip!
- 28 plays in 28 days
- During May term
- Interested? (Demonstrating interest does not rope you into attending….) Let scott.masarky or wschoen know!
Treasurer’s News:
- Pay your dues! $10 for the year, $6 for the semester, $20 if you’d like a URPlayers Tshirt too!
Secretary’s Speech:
- APO Night (the next one) is Friday October 24th after rehearsal for The Skin of Our Teeth in Fredrick Rehearsal Hall! Start brainstorming on acts & mark your calendars! Hope to see you there!
Student/Faculty Liaison’s Lecture:
- A marketing firm is holding a contest – you can win a camera! Talk to Alex if you’re interested in entering, and he can give you information.
- Concerns/ideas for the faculty? Tell Alex!
IN OTHER NEWS…
- From Walter: The Law school needs two actors (TOMORROW OCTOBER 8th) from 6:30-7:30pm to improvise with law students in “client situations” – this is GREAT practice for your improv skills! Contact Walter (wschoen) ASAP if you’re interested!
- From Chloe: JUST FYI….There will be an interest meeting for The Vagina Monologues November 24th. Mark your calendars!
- From Sloane: Thanks to those who came laser tagging! It was great fun (with the exception of the devilish children under age twelve)! The next Players’ event will (hopefully) be PAINTBALLING! Get excited!
- From the PR Chair: She has 500 posters to be posted around Richmond and the campus to advertise the Russian shows! If you’d like to help her out, please contact her – veronica.seguin
- Adam says: The Rhetoric and Communication department is offering a unique class next semester: “Ancient Rhetoric and Drama” it is being team – taught by two professors who have an adaptation of a Greek drama translated. The end of the class will be the performance of the play in the traditional Greek style! Something to look into for next semester!
Thanks guys, that’s it! Have a great fall break!
